Aren’t all religions the same?

Or just different ways to God?

  • Different religions contradict each other in very fundamental ways, so they cannot all be right. Some speak about a number of different gods, others of only one, and others have no god at all. Some speak of a supreme and almighty god, others of a god who isn’t all-powerful. Christianity alone speaks about an Almighty God who is able to be personally known and with whom we can have a relationship of loving child to loving heavenly Father. If they can’t all be true, how can we tell which one is true?

  • The history of how the different religions impacted on people’s lives shows how diverse they are. Christianity so influenced lives that it was Christians who were at the forefront of the campaign against the slave trade. The Protestant Reformation in Scotland saw the establishment of a school in every parish, so that everyone would be able to read and understand the Bible for themselves. It was Christian missionaries who brought hospitals and medical care to many countries in the world. And today, it is Christians who have been at the heart of the hospice movement, because life is precious in God’s sight at every point.

  • Most of all the Bible is clear that Jesus claimed to be the unique revelation of God. He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father (God) except by me”. And “Whoever has seen me, has seen the Father” (John 14:9). If Jesus is God and the only way to God as He claimed, then all other religions cannot be right – and your eternal life depends on the right answer. Investigate what Jesus says.
