Torry U.F. Church

At the time of the Disruption in 1843, the Free Church was established in Torry in a wooden building situated on the Torry bank of the River Dee between Bank Street and Pierhead.
As the years passed and the congregation grew, there was a need for larger premises, and in

At the union of the United Free Church & the Church of Scotland in 1929, approximately 130 members of this congregation decided to form Torry United Free Church (Continuing).
At first they met in The Central Mission Hall in Sinclair Road, while a new building was erected in Grampian Road.               
Thus the present church came into being and its first minister was inducted on 11th December 1931- the Rev. E Lewis Neilson.
The word was faithfully preached, a week of prayer held to start each year, and Open Air meetings at the corner of Sinclair Road whatever the weather. Youth work included Sunday School, Bible Class and Christian Endeavour. A campaign by Lionel Fletcher in Aberdeen brought many to
